Adam Linn & Jeff Ono : “Edge Crush” at Steve Turner Los Angeles
I recently had the pleasure of attending the exciting new exhibition, 'Edge Crush' at Steve Turner in Los Angeles. The two-person show featuring Adam Linn and Jeff Ono was an absolute delight to behold.
The works featured explored themes such as identity politics, consumerism, technology, and nature through a variety of media including painting, photography and installation art. It was fascinating to see how these artists used different mediums to communicate their ideas with each other while simultaneously exploring individual points of view on similar topics.
Adam Linn's paintings were particularly captivating. Through his vivid colours and bold brushstrokes he created abstract landscapes that depicted both physical spaces as well as emotional ones - conveying feelings of joy as well as despair within the same image. His work reminded me of the importance of being connected to our environment through our senses - something that can often be forgotten in today's digital age where we are so easily lost in screens or consumed by material objects.
Jeff Ono’s installations also caught my eye - his use of everyday materials like plastic bottles or paperclips created unexpected sculptures which challenged traditional notions about what is valuable or desirable when it comes to art. His pieces made me think deeply about consumption patterns and how they shape us not only materially but emotionally too; I found myself questioning whether this “throwaway culture” really serves us best or if there might be more sustainable ways for us all to live together harmoniously?
Overall I thought 'Edge Crush' was an incredible exhibition which showcased some truly inspiring artwork from two very talented artists who are pushing boundaries in contemporary art today!
